CMAT
Course Syllabus & Information

The Central Management Admission Test (CMAT) is the standard entrance exam you need to pass for the BBA program at Tribhuvan University. It is managed by the Faculty of Management (FoM) and is a requirement for getting into management programs like BBA at TU-affiliated colleges. Below is a detailed explanation of the CMAT structure, process, and preparation.

📝 Exam Structure and Syllabus

The TU CMAT exam is standardized to evaluate your aptitude in four key areas. Understanding the exam's pattern is an important first step in preparing.

  • Exam Format: The test is paper-based, consisting of 100 multiple-choice objective questions.
  • Total Marks: 100 (Each question carries 1 mark).
  • Duration: 90 minutes (1 hour 30 minutes).
  • Passing Marks: You must score a minimum of 40 marks (40%) to qualify for the next stage of the admission process.
  • Negative Marking: There is no negative marking for incorrect answers, so it's beneficial to attempt all questions.

The 100 questions are divided equally among four sections:

📚 How to Prepare for CMAT

A structured study plan is key to succeeding in the CMAT. Here are a few suggestions to help you prepare:

  • Understand the Syllabus Thoroughly: Before you begin, make sure you know all the topics included in the four test sections.
  • Create a Study Plan: Dedicate a few hours each day to studying. Break your time into focused sessions for each section (Verbal, Quantitative, etc.).
  • Practice with Mock Tests: Take as many mock tests as you can. They help you get comfortable with the timing and exam pattern. Solve at least 10 full-length tests before your exam date.
  • Read Daily: For the General Awareness section, develop a habit of reading newspapers like The Kathmandu Post and following reliable news sources online.
  • Use Standard Study Materials: Books by authors like R.S. Aggarwal are very good for practicing Quantitative and Logical problems.
  • Join a Preparation Class: Many students choose to join CMAT coaching institutes. These classes can provide expert guidance, practice materials, and a structured environment for preparation.
  • Build Your Vocabulary: For the Verbal section, work on improving your vocabulary daily. Learning 5-10 new words and their usage can be very helpful.
